Shri V. M. Mehta Municipal Arts & Commerce College was established in the year June, 1972. It has been imparting education to the unprivileged and the less fortunate students since then. It had undertaken a long journey and along the way it faced many challenges, trials and tribulations. The journey also afforded us the opportunity of introspection, frank and sometimes even cruel gut-cleansing honesty and frankness. As we look back, we can clearly see where we scored and where we failed. It is always pleasant experience to recognize one's own success stories. We therefore, propose to look at our forte here. Come to think of it, academically speaking, we enjoy advantageous position in that we have twelve Ph.D. scholars and about two following suit. Experience is also on our side. We have some old wizened weather-beaten teachers who are benefiting their students by the dint of sharing their knowledge and learning. Times are changing. So do we. We sense lurking dangers as well as Inviting opportunities. We have successfully realized that there is always a room for improvement if only we can take criticism in our stride. We also realize the utter importance of constructive self appraisal. Given enough quality infrastructure and adequacy of teachers, we can work wonders in the start of new modern technological courses. This will lend more relevance and viability to us. We also realize quality computer education is a must for any institute desirous of societal approbation. We face, as any other educational institution today does, the greatest challenge of maintaining viability, practicability and relevance in the context of stiffly competitive national and global scenario. We know that we have to come up to the expectations to both finer points of education as well as to market forces. We have to deliver. We also know that we have to equip ourselves against the onslaught of Internet, e-Education, e-University, National Open Class Room etc. Odds are high and stakes are even higher. We can't afford to look away or lose track of stark realities of the day.
